Round Table on Behavioral Health Peer Support for Older Adults

On April 10, NASMHPD brought together leaders from all over health care sector to discuss how funding for behavioral health peer support specialists for older Americans might be achieved. Participants in the 4 1/2-hour meeting included representatives of State Mental Health Agencies, insurers and Special Needs Plans, peer support specialists, mental health providers and stakeholders, the Medicare program, the Administration for Community Living, the Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration. NASMHPD will be releasing a white paper this fall that discusses the observations and recommendations made by Roundtable participants.
