State TA Project

The purpose of the State TA is to provide technical assistance (TA) and support to State Mental Health Authorities (SMHAs) in successful program implementation of the Mental Health Block Grant (MHBG) and Substance Use Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Services Block Grant (SUPTRS BG), including evidence-based and promising practices, crisis services, and mental/behavioral health planning councils to meet the needs of children with serious emotional disturbance (SED), adults with serious mental illness (SMI), and individuals with substance use disorder challenges. This SAMHSA project is executed by JBS International in collaboration with NASMHPD and other partners.

If you would like to make a TA or Training request, please send an email to SAMHSAStateTA@jbsinternational.com and you will be sent a request form, though please note the MHBG or SUPTRS BG Planner needs to either submit or give approval for the submission. Once submitted, the SMHA Commissioner/Director will get a request for final approval, which will come from Andrea Coleman via automation@app.smartsheet.com.  If you would like information on the TA or Training request process, please contact Timothy Tunner, Ph.D., Project Director/Training and Technical Assistance, at Timothy.Tunner@nasmhpd.org.

Through a five-year cooperative agreement with the Administration for Community Living (ACL), The Link Center is led by four national associations whose state and professional members are essential to systems change in this arena – the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services (NASDDDS), the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD), the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD), and the National Association of State Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA) along with additional partners focused on quality improvement and DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion). The Link Center aims to make mental health treatment and supports more available to individuals with co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), brain injury, other cognitive disabilities, or communication differences.
